Dapper-dressed six piece Cheap Fakes are a much loved live band for a reason.
With suave moves and catchy tunes, their brass-fuelled funk and soulful ska have been moving festival crowds for nearly seven years.
And with a serious festival resume including Woodford Folk Festival, Surfers Paradise Festival, Golden Days Festival, Big Pineapple Festival, Mitchell Creek Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival, the Originals Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Valley Fiesta and Island Vibe as well as their first tour of New Zealand in the wings, 2016 is looking like being a monster year for the Brisbane-based band.
2015 saw the band release their third album Modern Vintage, recorded with Grammy nominated John Merchant who has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz and Barbra Streisand.
Modern Vintage comes on the back of 2010’s Stones & Sticks and Hand Me Downs (2012) as well as a bunch of national supports including Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Cody ChesnuTT & NZs The Black Seeds and Kora.
